Overview

The cold chain has become a vital part of the supply chain of fresh produce. Studies have shown a critical absence of a strong and dependable cold chain in developing economies.

Cold chain is a subset of the entire supply chain involving the handling, storage and distribution of the perishable products that require controlled temperature in order to retain the product's characteristics and nutritive values for prolonged duration. In other words is a logistics system, which provides and maintains a series of facilities for ensuring ideal storage conditions for the perishables point of sale.

The intention of introducing these awards is to encourage stakeholders and create awareness about the critical parameters that inhibits and significantly influence the efficiency of a cold chain. The award and recognition would enable Innovation, Integration and Investments in the Food Supply chain.
